Mary Burt Scholarship

The Mary S. Burt Scholarship Fund has been established in memory of Mary Burt, past manager of the St. Charles County Soil and Water Conservation District.  Mary became involved in Envirothon when the program first came to Missouri in 1998.  A champion for the Envirothon’s success in Missouri, she served on the Missouri State and St. Louis Regional Committees until 2008, when her health declined.  She often spoke of her admiration for the students, and reminded her coworkers and other Envirothon enthusiasts that these kids were the type of high-caliber people who would be working as natural resource professionals in the future.

Mary would be pleased that she was able to inspire youth not only during her life, but now in death, with this special memorial in her honor.  Students who receive this scholarship will know that it was made possible because of a woman who dedicated her life to protecting natural resources, to assisting farmers and other citizens in maintaining healthy soil and water, and to helping build the Envirothon program in Missouri.

The scholarship will be made available to a college-bound Envirothon student beginning with the 2011-2012 school year.

Rules for the scholarship are being finalized and will be posted here when final.
